4 ways to avoid distractions and stay focused

Do you sometimes feel that you lack concentration at work, school, or in your relationships? You are not alone, this is a common problem that happens to most of us and yeah there are days we have to do things that we don’t feel like doing. That’s what it is to be an adult.

No one else can do that for you. It is also important that you are willing to fail and understand that mistakes are a healthy part of life. You can learn from difficult situations. Pushing through these situations will give you confidence. So keep going, don't give up.People only give up because it is easy and convenient.

If you feel that your job is not something that you enjoy, then you need to be honest with yourself

Let’s look at four simple ways to keep you going;

1)     Take a break
This is NOT an excuse to start watching TV and eat chips. It is not an excuse to sit at your desk and play computer games all afternoon, either. These breaks are meant to help you recharge and refocus, NOT to allow you to be lazy. Try to work on a crossword, Sudoku puzzle etc...jog your mind a bit

2)     Break it in pieces
If you set huge and seemingly unattainable goals for yourself, that’s just setting yourself up for failure. Break everything in manageable pieces. This will allow you to stay focused as you work toward the bigger goal. This will also help you to stay present.

3)     Change your environment
Well this is not to mean you relocate just simple things like moving your desk position... changing your phone background, A small change may make all of the difference in your attitude.


4)     Find your motivation
It all comes from within...if you don't have a strong why of doing what you are doing ask yourself this questions

  • What would your world be like without your job or business?
  • How would your bills be paid?
  • How would your children survive?
  • How would you participate in the community activities?

...this is to say never take your source of income for granted. Similarly imagine a life without your family, Friends, spouse or your children.. yeah this is enough to cause you not to be distracted, and to channel your focus at whatever you need to improve.

Finally don't pretend you don't care, acknowledge and admit there are areas you lack focus,  that is the only sure way to improve
